Kelly Leid's Presentation - PDF

The City and County of Denver is growing and changing around us.  From new light rail line, commuter-rail and transit stations, a reconstructed Union Station, to redeveloped neighborhoods, and brand new neighborhoods, the Denver of tomorrow will look – and work – radically different than the Denver of today. City Club is therefore excited to host Kelly R. Leid, Executive Director for the new North Denver Cornerstone Collaborative (NDCC), which seeks to improve infrastructure in key areas around the City to improve prosperity, mobility, and livability.  (For more information about the particulars of the North Denver Cornerstone Collaborative, see the link at the bottom of this page.)

But will it work?  And is it worth the cost?  Mr. Leid will, in answering those questions, explain Mayor Hancock’s vision, explain how the City intends to realize its vision, and address how it will tackle the challenges to implementation.  And, of course, he will address your questions about it.

About Kelly R. Leid

With over 22 years of broad-based operations management experience, including 16-plus years in senior leadership positions, Kelly has worked across a range of highly visible public, private and nonprofit organizations.

In January 2013, Mayor Michael B. Hancock appointed Kelly to serve as the Project Manager of the North Denver Cornerstone Collaborative (NDCC). Recognizing a convergence of upcoming projects in the Elyria-Swansea and Globeville neighborhoods, the Mayor identified an opportunity to energize a cornerstone of the Corridor of Opportunity and create a gateway to downtown by aligning individual efforts into one coordinated vision. Kelly manages the general oversight, planning, strategic coordination, financing and implementation of the six major projects totaling over 3,000 acres. The projects include neighborhood planning, the redevelopment of the National Western Stock Show, South Platte River, Brighton Blvd., multiple RTD transit stations and I-70 east from Brighton Blvd to Tower Road.

From September 2011 through April 2013, Kelly served as Mayor Hancock’s Director of Development Services. With a staff of nearly 120, the department facilitates and supports the issuance of over 50,000 residential and commercial permits through the plan review, permitting and inspections process. The department plays a key role in the economic vitality of the City.

Kelly is a 3rd generation Coloradoan, growing up in Northwest Jefferson County and currently resides in Southeast Aurora with his wife and their two young children.
