What did you think of today's mayoral forum? Did it help you make a decision about whom you're going to vote for? Did it help you decide for whom you're not going to vote? Share your perspectives here and maybe you can help others come to a decision.

I was pleased and interested in our candidate forum.  Very impressed with several -- most spoke very well, but some were obviously inexperienced and full of vague impractical ideas.  Most impressed with Theresa
Spahn, and will probably vote for her.  Second and very close is Michael Hancock, third Carol Boigon and fourth James Mejia.  No possibility among the others.  Chris Romer lost my vote by not bothering to show up.  Good turnout of club members, somthing that happens too seldom.

    From Leslie Kaye:

I thought the forum was terrific.  However, asking the same question for each candidate was somewhat boring, and resulted in boring answers.  I think it would have been better to pick questions out of the hat (so to speak) and pop that question to a single candidate, the next question out of the hat to another candidate.  That would have been far more stimulating.  Here, the last candidates have far too  much time to think about their answer.   Under my suggestion, every candidate would have a fresh question, and it would be the luck of the draw equally for each candidate

I had never even heard of some of the candidates, and it raised or lowered my estimate of each candidate.  In short, it was very helpful.  Thank you for putting it together.

There were too many candidates to help to make a decision. Maybe we should have had four one week and four the next week. I could support anyone of four candidates, but am leaning toward Doug Linkhart. I think he has kept people informed while in office, he knows the city well and lets us know where he stands on the vital issues.

I've narrowed down the field to 4-5:  Linkhart, Boigon, Spahn, Hancock, Mejia.  It was a huge help to me to hear each of the candidates speak.  I agree with a previous commenter about Romer -- he lost my vote by not coming.  I can't imagine what it took to arrange having all the candidates in one place -- it must have been a Herculean task.  I appreciate those efforts.  After the Hickenlooper luncheon, it was the program I liked best.

I was very pleased with the format and the willingness of the candidates to join the discussion.  Felt that the "parameters of time" were excellent, and the candidates understood the constraints.  Good job.  One of the great purposes of City Club.

Well, I liked that everyone had a shot at the three large questions, but, Leslie this is a very innovative idea!

I agree... it was helpful... but the format was boring. Different questions for each candidate would have made the time go faster. Four of the candidates were clearly incompetent and inept and think they are entitled to begin their quest for elected office at the top.

Chris Romer's insult did not go unnoticed.

Theresa Spahn had my vote until she mentioned working with Joyce Foster.  Joyce's failure to investigate the nature of the acts committed by her brother-in-law, and then taking the actions she did on the floor of the Colorado Senate calls all of her work into question. I wouldn't have known about Theresa's lack of insight into this arena had I not attended the lunch.

I'm going to vote for Doug Linkhart. He struck me as the only candidate who wanted the office for what he could DO as mayor. Investment into urban problems in order to prevent bigger costs down the road makes the most sense to me. It also proves we are a community, not a for-profit business, not a labor union, and not a school system. I think Doug represents the best of our values as Coloradans.

Sorry I missed--even if I cannot vote (live in Evergreen).  Mother-In-Law's 90th. (in MI) took precedence. Same question for each candidate isn't all bad, at least in a newspaper format; however, with limited time to answer (with so many candidates) it could come across as stilted and "boring", I suppose. Cannot please all the people all the time. Kudos those that had the "juice" to get the candidates there for the program. That was a lot of work to put together.

    From Willis Wood:

I thought the forum were very well done. And, yes the forum did help me sort out the field and make some early decisions.

    Well done.
